The Town Assessor

Is responsible for all assessments of all Township property. There are approximately 33,000 parcels in Joliet Township. The Assessor and his staff must attend training programs about property assessment and educational workshops to keep their accreditations up to date. This office handles various tax exemptions. Property records are available to the public.

 

The Assessor is responsible for assessing property at one-third of market value or fair cash value except for farmland, railroad, or coal properties valued by the State of Illinois Department of Revenue.

Assessor Brenczewski

Jim Brenczewski was born and raised in Joliet. He graduated from Holy Cross Grade School, Joliet Central High School, JJC, and Western Illinois University. His experience in the assessment field comprises working in the Joliet Assessment Office, the Will County Board of Review, and as Chief Deputy in the Will County Supervisor of Assessments Office. Brenczewski is the son of the late Edward and Ellie Brenczewski. His mother worked for the Joliet Township Office for 25 years as a bilingual intake secretary. He has been married to his wife Mary for 47 years, is the father of three children, Missy, Jaime, and Ryan, and proud grandparent of Jameson, Alyssa, Chase, Benjamin, Ellie, and Kennedy. He is dedicated to fair assessments and treating the people of Joliet Township with respect and kindness.
